“Miami Architecture Comes of Age” Panel Discussion

Miami Architecture Comes of Age Panel DiscussionWednesday, April 2, 7pm - Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables

“Miami Architecture Comes of Age” will be the topic of a panel discussion in conjunction with the Coral Gables Museum‘s exhibition, Marking the Millennium: 21st Century Miami Architecture. Where is Miami now? Are we building for the ages or just the moment? The Museum’s current architectural exhibit, curated by architecture critic and author Beth Dunlop, provides a survey of contemporary architecture and an opportunity to examine the trends in this new era. The expert panel will discuss aesthetics, urbanism and the “starchitecture” craze – Miami’s late-to-the-party obsession with internationally famous architects. The panel, moderated by Dunlop, will include Jason R. Chandler, A.I.A., Chair, Department of Architecture College of Architecture + The Arts Florida International University; Denis Hector, LEED® AP, Associate Professor & Acting Dean University of Miami School of Architecture; Terence Riley, architect, museum professional, and critic, and Allan T. Shulman, FAIA, Associate Professor, University of Miami School of Architecture and Founding Principal, Shulman + Associates. Regular Museum admission rates apply.
