The New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, celebrates an exciting educational opportunity–a live taping of NPR’s nationally acclaimed radio show. From The Top with host Christopher O’Reilly at the New World Center. The special taping and episode will feature two local students: 13-year-old violinist Nicholas Abrahams from Pembroke Pines, Florida, who is a student of New World Symphony Fellow Amos Fayette, and 17-year-old soprano Virginia Mims from West Palm Beach, Florida. Several New World Symphony Fellows, including violinist Foster Wang, violinist Audrey Wright, and violist Kallie Chiechomski, will be featured in a finale performance along with host Christopher O’Riley. New World Symphony alumnus Matthew Roitstein, flute, will also perform. Also featured on the show will be 18-year-old Xinyi “Michelle” Zhao, originally from Guangdong, China, and currently studying at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, who is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. From The Top airs weekly on over 250 NPR stations around the country. The recording at New World Symphony will air at least twice on this national platform. You can play a part by joining the live recording audience! From the Top can be heard locally on Classical South Florida, WKCP 89.7, on Sundays at 7:00 PM; this episode will air nationally the week of May 26. Single tickets are available for $25.
