Feeding South Florida hosted first “Ultimate Hunger Champion” awards gala at Conrad Miami. Feeding South Florida’s mission is to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.
The gala honored participants of the “Hunger Games”, Feeding South Florida’s series of competitive events between corporations, which launched in January. The special guests were sport celebrities MMA star Will Brooks and Ruth Riley of the WNBA. As both athletes upbringings resonate with the organization’s mission, they are proud to support Feeding South Florida. Riley recently shot a new Feeding South Florida PSA, which will air later this year.
The evening started with a cocktail reception presented by Bacardi, followed by four-course banquet featuring Lobster and Pink Grapefruit on Buckwheat Blinis, and Pan-Fried Snapper with Citrus Salsa, Sunblush Tomato Rice, Broccolini and Basil Aioli, and Cookies by Shar. The evening also includes a silent auction and live entertainment presented by Mike Sipe Entertainment, Events & Production.
The winners were decided upon tallying the number of points won by the corporation for winning and participating in competitions and posting sanctioned Feeding South Florida information on social media. The “Hunger Games Division” winners were: Leadership Broward Foundation, Catholic Health Services, Mike Sipe Entertainment, Events & Production, WellCare, and JM Family Enterprises. Ascendo Resources were awarded as “Ultimate Hunger Champion”.
VIP guests continued the celebration with an after party hosted by Blue Martini Brickell, featuring mouthwatering miniature desserts and Blue Martini’s signature drink.
