The Downtown Miami Charter School (DMCS) fundraising committee is hosting its 3rd Annual Education Takes You Places Gala on April 26th, 2014 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at Greenberg Traurig Miami in order to raise funds for its Summer Math and Reading Programs. DMCS is a Title 1 charter school located in Overtown, Florida, aiming to provide a safe learning environment in which its students can thrive, despite socioeconomic struggles. They are looking to continue raising funds for their Summer School Math and Reading Programs which will enable  students to have fun learning over the summer break and become more prepared for the upcoming year. Typically, an average of fifty percent of students enter the school two or more years below grade level. Studies show that over the summer, American children lose one to two months of progress in mathematics and reading each year. The program aims to eliminate these discrepancies. Tickets will be sold at the door for $60 per person or $100 per couple; or $50 and $90 online.
