Brother Jimmy’s has been serving authentic North Carolina slow smoked BBQ for over 20 years. The restaurant that made a name for itself in Mary Brickell Village, and delighting New Yorkers, is now bringing its acclaimed BBQ cuisine to South Miami at Sunset Place. Grand Opening festivities began on Friday night with fashion shows, and continued on Saturday with a mechanical riding bull, line dancing performers and kid’s line dancing lessons.
Just as it did in the Northeast and in Miami’s Mary Brickell Village, the casual, energetic restaurant with acclaimed BBQ cuisine, Brother Jimmy’s BBQ is now serving up their serious barbeque Southern style fare in South Miami. The drink menu includes intriguing Swamp Water, legendary concoction served in a 64 OZ fish bowl which hasn’t changed in 20 years. The best option for starter would definitely be the sampler platter for two or more – Flaming Pig Out - Hush Puppies, BBQ Wings, Rib Tips, Fried Chicken and Frickles (fried pickles). The hush puppies are classic southern style cooking, and the fried pickles are just great. The one thing missing in the appetizer sampler is the brisket, and Jimmy’s BBQ offers smoked for up to 12 hours, fork tender sliced brisket platter – lean or marbled. As a side dish fried Brussel sprouts are unusual but great choice, while the collard greens and cornbread prepared the southern style are rounding out the terrific meal. The staff is friendly and made excellent suggestions.
