The days are getting longer, the temperature is heating up, and school vacation is on the horizon! In preparation for the impending season, the Museum of Discovery and Science Leonardo da Vinci Society presents: The Science of Summer, featuring twelve year old Peyton Robertson. Peyton is the 2013 Discovery 3M Young Scientist Challenge Champion. During this event, Peyton will share some great summer experiments and share “What’s Next” – ten promising future technologies that will impact our lives. The Discovery Channel will be onsite during the event following young Peyton’s development. Peyton Robertson’s innovations have been featured on ABC World News, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Huffington Post, and TED. Peyton was born in Fort Lauderdale, attended Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale until the fifth grade and is currently a sixth grade student at Stanford University’s prestigious middle school program. The Science of Summer will explore the exciting principles or density vs. mass, refraction, and Newton’s First Law through creative experiments. Guest will also learn how to extinguish fire with CO2 and simulate underwater lava reactions. Guests will also enjoy cocktails, soft drinks and hors d’oeurves and also experience the IMAX documentary film Journey to the South Pacific 3D narrated by Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett.
