James Beard Award Winning Chef Michelle Bernstein will be hosting NPH USAâ€™s Eighth Annual â€œFaces of Hopeâ€ luncheon and fundraiser.Â The event program will include Master of Ceremonies, Maria Teresa Cerquiera, Former Chief of the U.S. Mexico Border office, Pan American Health Organization and Keynote Speaker â€œNPH PequeÃ±aâ€ Aurora Zacharias.Â The event will include a moving program where attendees will gain an inside understanding of the nutritional and health issues the Tarahumara and Raramuri populations face in Mexico and the life changing work NPH USA is doing in this regard.Â The three course luncheon will benefit the 3,300 children of Nuestros PequeÃ±os Hermanos in nine countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Faces of Hope luncheon features event sponsors like Eastern Air Lines, scheduled to relaunch with Miami as itâ€™s hub, along with Fed Ex, The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, Gilead Sciences and World, Peace, Love.Â The Auction will include more than fifty high-end items up for grab, like a week cruise on Royal Caribbean, a weekend stay at the posh Marlin Hotel, and week vacations at private villas in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. If youâ€™re in it for just the food, than come eat to your heartâ€™s content, with mini tostadas with tuna ceviche and chilled corn sippers with ancho chile, and a main dish of pulled chicken with mole, guacamole and toasted pumpkin seeds. Top it off with cheese flan with churros for dessert.
NPH USA (voted a Four Star Charity by Charity Navigator,) transforms the lives of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children in Latin America and the Caribbean by supporting homes, healthcare and educational programs of Nuestros PequeÃ±os Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters” is an over sixty year old organization.) Since its founding in 1954, NPH has assisted more than 18,000 children and is currently raising more than 3,200 boys and girls in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru.
