Judgement Day, organized by Mike Tyson’s Iron Mike Productions (IMP), was headlined by a highly anticipated rematch for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Featherweight crown between Tyson’s fighter, champion Argenis “La Tormenta” Mendez, and top rated challenger Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy. Rances “Kid Blast†Barthelemy dethroned IBF titleholder Argenis “La Tormenta†Mendez after twelfth round by unanimous decision, and this time it should stick.
Barthelemy originally defeated Mendez on January 3, 2014 in Minnesota to win the title, but the win was considered controversial, as Barthelemy knocked Mendez out seconds after the bell to signal the end of the second round came. Mendez and his team filled an appeal to the Minnesota Combative Sports Commission and IBF shortly after the fight, and after the appeal was successful on January 30, 2014, the result was changed to a no decision and Mendez was reinstated as the IBF Super Featherweight champion.
Under-cards included a light heavyweight match between WBC #3 rated Humberto “El Don†Savigne who scored a second round TKO over former world champion Jeff “Left Hook†Lacy. Savigne dropped Lacy in round one and the bout was stopped in round two after Savigne landed a series of unanswered punches.
Undefeated 18-year-old welterweight up-and-coming Erickson “The Hammer†Lubin, from Orlando went the distance for the first time, taking an eight round unanimous excision over veteran Noe “Platanito†Bolanos. Judgement Day boxing extravagance also included live performance by French Montana, Gente de Zona, and guest DJ Jammin’ Johnny.
