Peroni Nastro Azzurro, one of Italy’s leading brands and the world’s No. 1 premium Italian beer, joins Fashion Group International (FGI), in sponsoring its 3rd Annual Emerging Designer Series contest. This event offered an unparalleled opportunity for fashion designers in the Miami and surrounding area to showcase their talent and designs in a high-profile runway show at no cost to the designer. Open to fashion, swimwear, and accessory designers, this competition aims to identify and support the up-and-coming talented designers in the Miami area.
To apply, designers submitted a design that best illustrates their view of Italian style. A panel of industry experts from FGI selected 10 finalists who had the opportunity to showcase three looks in a group format fashion show, incorporating theNastro Azzurro, Peroni’s iconic Blue Ribbon, during the week of Miami Swim Week at SLS South Beach. The judges included Barbara Hulanicki (Fashion Designer and Founder of the retail stores Biba), Annie Vazquez (Fashion Blogger) and Rachael Russell (Fashion Stylist).
Opening the show was last year’s runner up K8 Swimwear show casing her collection of all white swimsuits complete with geometric cutouts, intricate lacing and fringe. The contestants all showed a various different looks from swimwear to evening gowns and even some super fun theatrical pieces. The standouts were Pilar Tarrau with her fur accessories and orange fringe backpack, Valentina Delfino with her casual looks featuring a tropical palm tree print and lace detailing, and Mimmy Begazo with her super theatrical skirt made of many layers of colored fabric and pink feather head piece. Last year’s Emerging Fashion Designer Winner Kim Nguyen presented her collection, Quyen Dimension as the finale of Italian Style Night. Ouyen’s collection had an athletic feel with a pallet of black white and silver with touches of transparent material creating great shine and movement.
However the first contestant to show, Carolin Autenrieth went home the unanimous winner of 3rd Annual Emerging Designer Series for her pastel ultra feminine looks which were pristinely constructed. As the winner, Autenrieth was awarded with a trip to New York Fashion Week as well as a complete runway production showcasing her full line at Swim Week 2015 in Miami.
