Miami Swim Week got off to an exciting start at Soho Beach House with exemplary collections from swimwear brands Côte d’Or, Keva J,  Lila Nikole, Meskita and San Lorenzo. Sean Donaldson Hair of Miami Beach provided the sultry beach hair, Sherilyn Segal makeup gave a fresh, clean face look, DJ Mad Linx kept the energy alive, while national events and public relations agency TARA, Ink. produced the show.

Côte d’Or Swimwear, Miami based and manufactured in Colombia, aims to set the new global standard for exclusive fashion-forward swimwear. For 2015, The Bird of Paradise collection is a chic cache joined with an exotic Amazonian appeal to produce a style of bold elegance. The collection is centered on the desire to transcend one’s imagination out of the ordinary world by taking flight. The global personalities of the designers are represented in this ensuring yet daring composition. Distinctive prints set the tone; a medley of vibrant colors is seen with prints of Macaws, Tuscans, Pineapples, and the sensual Bird of Paradise Flower. Such creative zeal and progressive allure is the foundation that captures the essence of it is Côte d’Or swimwear where extroverted sexuality finds a home within patterns inspired by exotic and tropical vibrancy.

Keva, Caribbean Native born in the fashion mecca of New York City is among the latest emerging swimwear designers, best known for her signature one-piece cutouts and edgy designs that will be sure to get you noticed on the beach or by the pool. The Keva|J Spring/Summer 2015 collection draws inspiration from bold Moroccan Prints and Aztec-like trims. Keva has aimed to create a cutting edge collection that really stands out! The focus was on the detailing of every suit, using strings as major elements throughout the collection. “Moroccan Sunset” is a collection of chic and sultry suits, created for the fashion forward woman. This collection includes bikinis and signature cut outs, with bright bold prints and purple and orange hues, making it the ideal line to create looks that are effortlessly stylish.

San Lorenzo’s 2015 collection surely was a fan favorite with a vast array of style options in bright colors and vintage Hawaiian prints. Originally based in Peru San Lorenzo has expanded its production into Brazil where they operate their own fabrication facilities, allowing them to develop a new silkier fabric for their bikinis. With an emphasis on versatility, every San Lorenzo piece is reversible, and many of them can be tied up in an array of different options. The collection, “Ilihad de Coco” draws its inspiration from the meshing of cultures within their company. Recently expanding into Hawaii with great success the prints and unique silhouettes are reminiscent of vintage Hawaiian apparel and the distinctive features of Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland area.

Lila Nikole collection is an innovative couture swimwear line eager to make a strong presence in the swimwear industry. Her latest collection “Reflections” based on periods in her own life. Utilizing custom prints and intricate silhouettes to illustrate the coming together of her experiences Lila Nikoles pieces are full of fun and bright neon colors in mirrored and kaleidoscopic prints. Lila Nikole aims to create swimwear for every woman with an array of different styles, most memorable were the skimpy one pieces held together with a single string on the side.

Closing out the show was Meskita a brand conceived to accentuate culture, exploration and imagination; existing to make consumers feel confident, sexy, and glamorous and be the one stop shop for those who are committed to expressing their personal style through exquisite details and luxurious fabrics. The 2015 Meskita collection was full of great hues of deep blues, dark reds, and amazing bronzed and golden looks perfect for that summer tan. The intricate weaving and crochet work was a standout but came second to the incredible movement created by many different floor length cover-ups. The craftsmanship was impeccable and Meskita was the only brand present to offer a full line of clothing as well.
