Bistro BE, will bring some European flavors to the Brickell food scene, by serving its “100 percent” Belgian food and beer menu - considered a mix of French and German food. The 1,970 square foot restaurant, located on the north side of the Axis Building, seats about 110 and is the mastermind from two Belgian born owners Emmanuel Verschueren and Tim Michels who wanted to bring their native cuisine to Miami. Running the kitchen is another native Belgian, Frederik Appelt, an acclaimed chef well-known in Belgium for his work at one of Grote Markt’s most historic restaurants. Main plates are priced from $17-28 and feature Belgian mussel pots, rabbit stew, filet mignon tartar, grilled angus filet, beef stew and Flemish vegetable stew. Lighter choices can be found among the restaurant’s salad selections, which are $13-$16 and include chicory and baby arugula salad and seared Ahi tuna. Desserts range from $8-$14 and include Belgian chocolate lava cake, Belgian pancakes and Brussels waffle. Bistro BE is open for lunch and dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m..
