United Way of Miami-Dade Young Leaders hosted an interactive cooking and eating experience, “Build Your Own Brunch” B.Y.O.B., modeled after VeritageMiami’s wildly popular Interactive Dinner. Guests spent the afternoon preparing a three-course brunch, under the tutelage of some of Miami’s most innovative chefs, Makoto Okuwa of Makoto, Timon Balloo of Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill, and Antonio Bachour of St. Regis Bal Harbour.
While the chefs lead guests through each course on stage, attendees were guided from Johnson & Wales culinary students that served as sous chefs and sommeliers. The brunch menu consisted of ‘Okonomi Yaki” by Chef Makoto Okuwa; Poached “steak & eggs” Benedict with horseradish Hollandaise by Chef Timon Balloo; and for dessert were Macarons with chocolate and raspberry ganache by Chef Antonio Bachour. Aside from the food, Titos Vodka sponsored brunch cocktails, and for all the beer aficionados, Wynwood Brewing Company had the best fit brew on tap.
