Still going strong after 26 years, The Ladies Annual Fish-Off is one of the largest fishing tournaments in South Florida, both by number of boats and anglers. The top ten boats and top three lady anglers receive cash and prizes, along with the top three largest fish in the five non-billfish categories of cobia, dolphin, kingfish, black fin tuna and wahoo. Plus, there are prizes for top family, top junior, top captain and top pee-wee. Last year the LFO awarded $27,765 in cash prizes. The top boat took home $12,313, and $29,400 was donated to charity. This year’s beneficiaries are the Ronald McDonald House and The Billfish Foundation. Only lady anglers may enter, but men can join the fun as captain and crew. The weekend begins with the Kick-Off and Silent Auction from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday at Galuppi’s with the Captain’s Meeting set for 8:15 p.m. On Friday late registration is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at J Marks, and on Saturday the tournament gets underway between 6 and 7 a.m. at Hillsboro Inlet and Port Everglades with lines in at 7. Boats must be visually checked in at Hillsboro Inlet no later an 4 p.m. for Weigh-in at the 14th Street Boat Ramp Scales. On Sunday the Awards Brunch is at 10:30 a.m. at Bonefish Macs.
