The Bass Museum of Art‘s 50th Anniversary Gala will be one of the most sought-after dinner invitations of the winter season! The Gala will not only celebrate the Bass Museum of Art’s golden jubilee, but it will also have GOLD on view; an exhibition featuring how gold has been used in the past and present and exploring its future. Throughout the evening there will be pop-up performance art, beginning with the iconic work by James Lee Byars, The Perfect Kiss, (1975). Byars, who is one of the artists featured in GOLD, referred to this performance as “a prayer, a poem and a play … a mystical expression of my appreciation of the world.” Byars was the subject of a retrospective this summer at MoMA PS1. Other surprise performances will be presented during dinner, and as a finale, artist Nektar de Stagni will lead guests in a participatory “Designer Dance Party.” For more info contact BASS at 305-673-7530, ext. 9 or 50thGala@BassMuseum.org.
