Down to Earth with Mezzacorona & Stemmari Wines

Down to Earth with Mezzacorona & Stemmari WinesThursday, November 6, 6:30pm-8:30pm – Rooftop on Ponces, 2990 Ponces de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables

On a beautiful Miami evening, Mezzacorona Wineries hosted a wine tasting of their newly released wines, hosted on the rooftop of a eco friendly building in Coral Gables. Mezzacorona Wineries lie at the foot of the majestic Italian Dolomites. Its vineyards run from Lake Garda and numerous smaller lakes to the foothills of the towering Dolomites mountain range including numerous glaciers of the mountains that peak at over 9,000 feet. Due to the location, there are micro-climates, these contain different zones best tailored to the needs of each varietal, allowing them to flourish within their aromas and flavor.

Through state-of-the-art facilities and green wine-making techniques, Mezzacorona offers to the final consumer 100% single varietal wines characterized by all the vivid elegance and crispiness. Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are dominant in the Dolomites. They are well known for their floral tones, exotic fruit, and silky smoothness on the palate. Mezzacorona is the largest Italian estate producer of these two varietals. As a non white wine drinker, the wines have a little mineral and slateiness flavor from the Dolomite region that makes these white wines wonderful to drink with a crispness to them that is perfect for summers in Miami.

Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have been produced in this region for a long time. The varietals’ flavors of forest berries, chocolate and toasted almond are a perfect complement to many International cuisines. Mezzacorona constantly receives strong ratings, and as a green grower, they are amazing. They use hand picking, solar power, wineries underground and many more eco friendly designs and have been awarded numerous awards for their efforts.

Lucio Matricardi, the winemaker, was on hand to discuss the wines and foods that he paired for us. The wines are now being served in South Florida including many restaurants in the area.
