InterContinental TopShelf Cocktail Competition at BacardiThursday, November 13, 6pm-8pm – Bacardi Headquarters, 2701 LeJeune Rd., Coral Gables

The InterContinental Top Shelf Cocktail Competition finale concluded at Bacardi Headquarters, where six finalists competed head-to-head in hopes of having their cocktail become part of the Signature Cocktail menu of all InterContinental North America properties.

Since August, mixologists from InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties have been creating an InterContinental cocktail that is reflective of that hotel’s destination and one seasonal cocktail using springtime ingredients. After an initial judging phase the field has been narrowed down to mixologists from six properties, including: Boston, Miami, New York Times Square, San Juan, Toronto Centre and Presidente InterContinental Cozumel.

InterContinental San Juan and Jaders Calcaño’s “Coqui Nite Cap” was the winning cocktail determined by a panel of three judges. The Puerto Rican head mixologist created two cocktails including one seasonal cocktail using in-season ingredients (Continental Coco Berry) and one cocktail reflective of San Juan (Coqui Nite Cap). In addition to having his cocktail added to the Signature Cocktail menu, Jaders Calcaño will receive a three-night stay plus airfare for two, to any of North Americas InterContinental properties of his choice.

· 2 oz. BACARDÍ 8
· 1 oz. Coconut water
· 1 oz. Pineapple juice
· 3 drops Cardamom Bitters
· 1 Lemon peel
· Mist of Hickory Smoke Syrup
Procedure:
1. Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes
2. Shake well and double strain in a rock glass over ice
