Design Miami 2014kicks off its 10th anniversary at Art Basel as a global forum and marketplace for high-end design. New initiatives include the inaugural Design Visionary award, which will be presented to Peter Marino “for his achievements as an architect, for his knowledge and status as a collector of design, art and the decorative arts.” Concurrently, Marino’s exhibit “One Way” is on view at the Bass Museum.Â Hometown Highlight: Local artist and designer Emmett Moore, represented by Gallery Diet in Wynwood, is showing in a solo booth at Design Miami/. This is a first in two ways, according to gallery owner Nina Johnson-Milewski: This is the first time Design Miami/ is exhibiting the work of a Miami-based designer and itâ€™s also the first time a Miami gallery has been accepted to the prestigious fair.Â Open to the public: Wednesday, Dec. 3 – Thursday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Dec. 6 – 7 from noon to 8 p.m.
