A gallery installation by artist and freestyle BMX rider Ryan Humphrey opens at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., along with shows by artist and skateboard legend Ed Templeton and surfer/photographer Michael O’Brien. On Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. the Center will host a special event with BMX pioneer Dizz Hicks and Humphrey that features BMX demos inside the Center at select times. Outside the “South Florida Old School BMX Faction” will present a variety of BMX-related activities, including demos of freestyle tricks, the screening of a documentary on the early days of BMX, and the building of a custom BMX bicycle piece-by-piece, which will be raffled off after completion to a lucky youth between 10 and 16. Refreshments will be available. These events are free to Center members and $10 for non-members. The exhibitions remain on view through August 14.
