South Florida guests walked the red carpet to show their support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the inaugural St. Jude Red Carpet for Hope charity gala presented by Municipio de Fomento on Sunday night. Attendees raised more than $76,000 to help fund the lifesaving work of St. Jude, where no family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. This is the third year St. Jude has partnered with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the national viewing party of the Golden Globe Awards, but the first time hosted in Miami.
Held at the Trump National Doral Miami, guests enjoyed a red carpet reception, a dinner featuring St. Jude patients and their families, and the live telecast of the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards. In addition to the live show, St. Jude patient Hailey from Delray Beach, performed one of her favorite songs, Miley Cyrus hit ‘When I Look At You.’ Hollywood celebrity designer Charlie Lapson co-hosted the event and helped accessories celebrities with his very own jewelry. Renowned hair stylist Gabriel Samra also donated his time to help patient families get ‘Red Carpet Ready’ by doing their hair and makeup. Celebrities who walked the red carpet included Felicia Mercado, Gabriel Valenzuela, Leslie Grace, Alberto Sardinas, Isaac Reyes, Adriana Lavat and Dra. Nancy Alvarez. The event was emceed by International actress Sissi Fleitas and Telemundo’s very own Raul Gonzalez, who also walked the red carpet.
Long-time St. Jude friend, radio personality, producer, and author Sardiñas energized the room and led the live auction portion of the evening. Venezuelan artist Alejandro Plaza’s newest piece, titled ‘Red Carpet For Hope,’ was a highlight of the auction, attracting the attention of several bidders.
