Miami Is Not Plastic Launch EventWednesday, January 10, 6:30pm-8:30pm – The Rusty Pelican Restaurant, 3201 Rickenbacker Cswy, Key Biscayne

Join the launch of “Miami Is Not Plastic” campaign, a collaborative initiative to inspire hospitality businesses in Miami, to reduce single-use disposable plastics as part of the global movement to clean our oceans. By 2050, the ocean will contain more plastics than fish by weight, and Americans use 500 million plastic straws every day. Because single-use plastics, like straws, bags, silverware, and cups, are designed to last in perpetuity but are used for just brief moments, plastic pollution continues to accumulate in our oceans at a rate of 8 million tons per year. Miami Is Not Plastic will launch with an event at Rusty Pelican where hospitality leaders will be inspired to eliminate single-use plastics from their operations. At the launch event, local retailers and restaurateurs, along with the general public, will have the opportunity to meet with eco-friendly vendors and speakers and learn more about how they can get involved. Admission is free. @dfoceans
