This Valentine’s Day join Chapman Partnership for 4th Annual RunWild 5K Run/Walk at Zoo Miami. Chapman Partnership runs two Homeless Assistance Centers with 800 beds in Miami and Homestead. They assist the homeless who wish to improve their living standards. Chapman Partnership provides emergency housing, meals, health, dental and psychiatric care, day care, job training, job placement and assistance with securing stable housing. The two centers serve 5,000 people annually.

This year’s RunWild 5K has approximately 15 sponsors, 50 teams and 2500 total anticipated participants running miles through zoo trails, passing the camels, lions and giraffes, to name a few. Money is raised through registration fees and team fundraising. Some corporations have even implemented some in-house challenges to raise funds.

Participants can register from 6:30 – 7:45 a.m. on Valentine’s Day. Chapman is anticipating 2,500 participants, last year there were 2,200. Participants are welcome to run or walk. With a massive network of volunteers, entertainment throughout the race, many sponsors and corporate backing from businesses like Winn-Dixie and BB&T…the goal is to raise $150,000. This is about “having fun for a great cause,” said Faye Wright, Development Manager for Chapman Partnership.

Since 1995, Chapman Partnership has had more than 100,000 admissions including 20,000 children in Miami-Dade County and a 64% success rate of moving people who complete the program from homelessness to self-sufficiency. “The average single adult stay is about 90 days for an individual and 130 days for families,” said Wright.
