In keeping with its exotic oriental roots, Mandarin Oriental, Miami is hosting a vibrant Chinese New Year celebration from Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27, 2015 to usher in the year of the goat in grand style. Guests will enjoy unforgettable dining experiences in the hotel’s distinguished culinary destinations – Azul, the signature restaurant featuring eclectic French-Asian fusion cuisine, La Mar by Gastón Acurio, offering Peruvian cuisine with Asian influences, and at MO Bar + Lounge, the hotel’s chic waterfront bar. Captivating lion dance performances will add to the excitement on select evenings. Diners will enjoy a feast for the senses while enjoying festive menus brimming with Chinese delicacies and surrounded by colorful décor.

For the Chinese, the New Year celebration is the most important of the year symbolizing the Earth’s new beginning. The Chinese culture utilizes a lunar calendar based on the moon’s cycle to create its zodiac signs and twelve animals to represent the twelve signs of the Chinese horoscope. According to the Chinese calendar, the goat represents a zodiac sign that is creative and kindhearted. True to tradition, rousing lion dance performances will capture the spirit of the season – it is said to bring good luck to households and the businesses they visit.

The cost for the four-course Chinese New Year set menu at Azul is $75 per person. Specialties at La Mar by Gastón Acurio will be offered on an a la carte basis and are priced from $19-$25.
