Piripi, the new Spanish restaurant from chef-owner Najat Kaanache and partners, inÂ Spanish slang stands for â€œhappyâ€ or â€œtipsy,â€ or â€œfeeling a little bit buzzedâ€.Â Kaanache was born and raised in San Sebastian, Spain toÂ Moroccan parents,Â Â and enjoyed a career as a Spanish television actress and activist, before deciding to attend culinary school. She honed her skills at such high profile restaurants as Noma, French Laundry, Per Se, and Alinea and El Bulli.
Piripi menu will include the chefâ€™s take on Spanish standards â€“ with heavy emphasis on seafood, as well as a selection of â€œlivelyâ€ tapas and paellas. The prominent central bar will feature Spanish wines by the glass.Â Prices are under $12 for most tapas, mid $20s and up for bigger plates.Â Piripi will be open daily for dinner.
