Each year the annual Heineken Transatlantic Festival, presented by The Rhythm Foundation, explores modern world music from the great cities of the Atlantic rim – Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and North America, featuring artists working in collision between traditional rhythms and electronica/DJ culture. The two-day festival will pay tribute to Miami as a true modern TransAtlantic capital and crossroad of the Old and New Worlds. This year’s headliners include American indie darlings Wild Belle; NYC’s afro-soul big bad Budos Band; Chilean hip-hop emcee Ana Tijoux; Colombia’s rebellious cumbia experimentalists Puerto Candelaria; and local acts My Deer, Bluejay and JJ Drums. After-party both nights at Sandbar Lounge. Tickets are $27 for a Weekend Pass; Single Day Pass $15 in advance and $20 at the door; children under 12 are free.
