The work of Miami’s top philanthropists in awakening new possibilities for Miami’s kids was recognized at the annual “Miracle Makers Luncheon and Fashion Show,†hosted by the Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, along with this year’s co-chairs Irene Korge, Bronwyn Miller, and Migna Sanchez-Llorens. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor and volunteer supported organization that transforms the lives of at-risk children through supportive adult mentor relationships.
The event included a cocktail reception, a luxury silent auction, and a luncheon, followed by a fashion show presented by internationally renowned designer Rene Ruiz. Master Celebrity Stylist Danny Jelaca styled the models’ hair, while celebrity makeup artist and creator of O.P. Makeup Studio, Osvaldo Perez (known as O.P.), styled the models’ makeup for the fashion show. Guests had the opportunity to “meet a match†and experience the life-changing impact of mentoring. CBS4’s weekend news anchor Cynthia Demos served as “Mistress of Ceremonies.â€
This year, the organization honored significant supporters and philanthropists including Betty Brandt; Aaron Glickman; Elysze Held; Daisy Olivera; Nathalie Cadet-James; Christina Martin; Marile Lopez; Nick D’Annunzio; Mary Louise Young; Carol Surowiec; Lucy Morillo; and Marielena Villamil. Paul and Swanee DiMare were honored as the organization’s 2015 Power Couple. The Miracle Society, an exclusive group of BBBS supporters, also welcomed 22 new members. The funds raised by the event will support mentoring matches for 73 new children who had previously been on the organization’s waiting list.
