Philanthropists and community leaders across South Florida came together for the “Brave” 2015 Sylvester Gala presented by the JW Marriott Marquis Miami to support Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s research programs, celebrate their progress, and honor most-committed champions. The event was emceed by Kim Bokampers, a Miami Dolphins legend and sports broadcaster, and musical entertainment was provided by Juniors’ Band Orchestra.
The Gala was chaired by Chanin & Adam Carlin under the direction of Lily Serviansky, Committee Chair and Joan Scheiner, Board of Governors Chair. Community leader and compassionate advocate, Barbara Hecht Havenick received the prestigious 2015 Caroline W. Halpern Award for leadership and philanthropy. Contemporary, influential musical performer, singer-songwriter and pianist, Sara Bareilles, known for her powerful music, including the pop anthem ‘Brave’, took the stage to entertain and inspire.
Private philanthropy plays a critical role in fueling the growth of new research programs – and ultimately enhancing Sylvester’s ability to offer the latest life-saving treatments to South Floridians. Every gift made to the 2015 Gala will enable Sylvester to advance research priorities and take one additional step in the fight against cancer!
