Broward County and its Port Everglades have a long history of welcoming members of the Armed Forces into our community. The Port served as a military base for the U.S. Navy during World War II, and has hosted Fleet Week for more than 20 years.Â Port Everglades has been the “liberty” port of choice for the U.S. Navy for many years. Broward Navy Days & Fleet Week’s organizers, will honor members of our military May 4 – 10, 2015. Hundreds of Navy sailors, Marines, and Coast Guard military will arrive at Port Everglades. Ships scheduled to participate include the U.S.S. Wasp, an amphibious assault craft; two destroyers, the U.S.S. Cole and U.S.S. James Williams; a submarine to be announced; and the U.S. Coast Guard fast response cutter Richard Etheridge. The week will kick-off with a “All Hands on Deck Welcoming Party”, 6 p.m.- 10 p.m., at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Seminole Paradise in Hollywood. Salute Our Brave Men and Women in Uniform at the public events during Fleet Week Port Everglades 2015.
