Interactive Cuban Culinary ExperienceFriday, August 14, 7pm-9pm – Tuyo Restaurant, 415 Northeast 2nd Avenue, Miami

The Cuba Study Group hosts the third installment of its Cuba Entrepreneurial Exchange Program, which will take place in Miami from August 10th-14th. This exchange will bring four chefs from Cuba’s private culinary (paladares) scene to Miami for a week of exchanges with Miami-based chefs. It pairs Cuban entrepreneurs with their counterparts in Miami to encourage collaboration and develop skills through internships, conferences and exchanges. It aims to reduce barriers between Cuban and locally-based entrepreneurs and educates Miami entrepreneurs about the realities of private entrepreneurship in Cuba, highlighting both challenges and opportunities.

In August of 2015, a group of Cuban Chefs working in some of Havana’s most successful Paladares will work with Miami-based Chefs to exchange ideas and help discover solutions to some of the challenges faced by Cuban entrepreneurs. The group will participate in exchanges with various Miami-based Chefs throughout the week and will close the week with an interactive culinary experience where they will feature their food alongside many of the chefs who have hosted them in Miami. This Chef Exchange is made possible through the support and generosity of the Knight Foundation.

Each participating Cuban chef will spend each day at a different restaurant working alongside their hosts, providing them with a variety of cuisines, techniques and styles.. The week will conclude with a demo for students at Miami Dade College’s Culinary Institute and an interactive culinary experience at Tuyo restaurant benefiting future exchanges, where Chefs participating in the exchange and their Miami-based hosts will demo a number of exciting dishes to one-hundred guests. $150 tax-deductible donation per person.
