5th Annual Gala Of Hope to Cure SMA

5th Annual Gala Of Hope to Cure SMAThursday, November 12, 7pm-11pm – Ferrari-Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, 5750 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale

The South Florida Chapter Gala of Hope is a fundraising event with one goal: to fund a cure for SMA. Hosted by two mothers of children with SMA, Fiorenna Israel and Jennifer Miller Smith, and MCed by DJ Laz of the HITS 97.3 “DJ Laz Morning Show”, the Gala of Hope was held at Ferrari Maserati of Fort Lauderdale. All proceeds from the event will benefit Cure SMA, a non-profit organization, working to fund the research that is necessary to further develop treatment and most importantly, find a cure for this debilitating disease.

Ferrari-Maserati of Fort Lauderdale was transformed into an old-fashioned Italian circus soirée with traditional performers and antique decor. The evening of luxury featured a silent auction, cocktail hour provided by Buddha Sky Bar and Buddha Garden, a 360-degree open bar by Premier Beverage, delicious cuisine compliments of The Capital Grille, live entertainment by Michael Israel, and a raffle for the chance to win a $5,000 shopping spree to JR Dunn.

Spinal muscular atrophy is a group of inherited diseases that cause muscle damage and weakness, which worsen over time and eventually lead to death. The destruction of nerves that control voluntary muscle movement decreases the ability to crawl, walk, swallow, and control the head and neck. One in every 10,000 babies is born with the disease and one in every 50 people carries the gene that causes SMA. There is currently not a cure or any treatment.
