With its grand opening back in April, Fornaro Restaurantand Gourmet Pizza is an up-and-coming intimate Italian restaurant that looks to bring Italian charm to the growing culinary scene in Coconut Grove. Fornano welcomes you to dinner Tuesday through Sunday with a menu that is not only delicate and flavorful, but also perfectly reasonably priced.
Start off the night with a selection of Steamed Mussels ($7.55), in white wine, basil and garlic, or Caprese Salad ($7.35) with chopped concasse tomato, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil, with delicate pesto sauce, amongst other tasty appetizers.
Continue with perhaps one of the most distinguishing entrees on the menu, Ossobuco ($28.80), veal shank cooked in a wood burning oven and served with saffron risotto. This is not only a signature Italian dish, this is also a must-try in Fornano.
And, of course, in an Italian setting like this one you can’t say no to their delicious Tiramisu ($7.80) – especially when it’s all made in-house.
On the 29th of each month you can enjoy Fornaro’s special Gnocchi Della Fortuna. The tradition stems from a legend dating back to the 8th century where the placing of money under a plate symbolizes wishes of prosperity.
Fornaro is open for dinner Tuesdays through Thursdays and Sundays from 6 to 10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays 6 pm to 11 pm. For reservations, please call 305-668-8888.
