Ball & Chain, the notable and world famous live music venue located in Little Havana was proud to host their first annual three-day music festival in honor of the venue’s 80th Anniversary this past Labor Day Weekend. The historical hot-spot originally opened its doors in September 1935 as a live jazz music venue closing its doors in the 1950s. The iconic, retro jazz bar on Calle Ocho was reopened a year ago with an authentic Cuban flare meticulously redecorated in iconic 1950s Miami style under new ownership Ben Bush, Zack Bush and Bill Fuller in September 2014.
This was the first multiple-day musical driven event to celebrate the venue’s 80th birthday and first year open under new ownership. The live performance jam fest began on Friday evening continuing through the weekend until Sunday. Over 6,000 people came out to celebrate the 80th anniversary while jamming out to incredible music by Electric Piquete, Nick Tannura Trio, The Baboons, Spam Allstars, BARRIOACTIVO, Suénalo, Politix, Vlade Divak, Brendan O’Hara & The Rescue, Conjunto Progreso, Rum & Coffee Band, ArtOfficial, Elastic Bond, Tony Succar featuring Mixtura, Pepe Montes, Komakozie and special DJ sets by Le Spam, Danny Stern, Danis LaClave and DJ Edward.
