The concept behind the project is to re-ignite the community with queer culture through a temporary installation. With growing gentrification and assimilation, many cities have lost their centers/neighborhoods of queer identity. We hope to spark the magic that was palpable during Miami’s gay halcyon days. The exhibit will be an experience in relational aesthetics. There will be visual art, performances, music and queer ephemera. VERSUS will function in essence as a gay club, a veritable watering hole for queer thought that imitates the baroque atmosphere that once was prevalent in Miami’s gay nightclubs. Pop-Up GAY BOOKSTORE will be selling vintage gay ephemera, magazines, books and novelties. Cash only. Free drinks provided by ABSOLUT Vodka.
