Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County's Kabuki "Celebrity" Cook-offMonday, August 22, 6-10pm – Benihana Fort Lauderdale, 276 East Commercial Boulevard, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County and Benihana Restaurants announce the extraordinary Kabuki Celebrity Cook-off fund-raiser. The event will be held on Monday, August 22 at 6:00 p.m., at the Fort Lauderdale Benihana restaurant located at 276 Commercial Boulevard. The event, in its fourth year, will shut down the restaurant as local celebrities try to master the teppanyaki grills for 150 guests.
Kabuki features community leaders who theme their tables complete with costumes and decorations and take the helm as head chef for the night. Chefs entertain and perform for their table guests while chopping, flipping food and serving them a four-course meal.
With grills sizzling and cheers from the crowd, chefs perform to earn tips from their table guests, which benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. They are also competing for different superlative awards including best costume, best knife skills and the coveted Golden Tip Award for the chef who earns the most in donations. The goal for the evening is to raise $30,000 to support 30 children in the organization’s mentoring programs.  The event will also host a “Parade of Chefs” for each “celebrity” to strut their stuff, a lavish cocktail hour before dinner and a fabulous raffle concluding the evening.
All proceeds from the event benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s programs facilitating youth mentoring in Broward County.  “Many of our chefs are back again for the fourth year. This event is pure fun and hilarity, and our sponsors get more creative every year. Not only are they in competition with each other, but they are also in competition with themselves – trying to top last year’s tip total. Everyone at the event enjoys themselves and knows that together, they are helping to impact the lives of even more children in Broward by providing them with a caring adult role model,” says Ana Cedeno, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.
Table sponsorships are available at two levels including a $1,800 VIP table with eight guest seats, drink tickets and a Sake bottle for the table, and a $1,500 table with eight guest seats.
