Detroit Tigers MVP slugger and former Miami Marlins player Miguel Cabrera hosted the inaugural Miggy Ball Gala benefiting The Miguel Cabrera Foundation held at The Cafe at Books & Books at the Adrienne Arsht Center. The evening featured a cocktail party hosted by James Beard winner, Chef Allen of The Cafe at Books & Books, as well as an open bar by Afrohead Rum & Peroni Beer. Guests had a chance to meet Miguel Cabrera and bid on exciting items at the live and silent auction. Attendees were also treated to a private concert by Vladi Ramirez, a Venezuelan singer & songwriter, and Chino & Nacho, a Venezuelan pop duo, 2010 Latin Grammy Award Winner.
Proceeds from the event will support local youth baseball programs and scholarships facilitated by The Miguel Cabrera Foundation, a charity established by Miguel Cabrera and his wife, Rosangel Cabrera. The Miguel Cabrera Foundation was founded on Miguel’s belief that we can achieve great things when we work hard, dream big, and help others. The Foundation focuses on two main activities: revitalizing baseball fields in schools and neighborhoods in order for athletics to be used as a catalyst for student engagement and achievement and providing Academic Scholarships.
