Saturday, August 27, 7-9pm – Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), 770 N.E. 125th Street, North Miami
Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) will present Optic Nerve XIII, a popular festival that features short films and videos by some of the most innovative artists in South Florida. This year, in recognition of its 15th anniversary, MOCA has broadened the scope of the Optic Nerve Film Festival and will screen films by artists from around the country. Eighteen films by 15 artists and 2 artist collectives, all less than five minutes in length and made within the last two years, were selected from an open call for submissions. There will be two screenings at 7 and 9 p.m., and at the conclusion of the first screening, MOCA Executive Director Bonnie Clearwater will announce which of the featured films will be purchased for the museum’s permanent collection. Admission is free with museum admission ($5 adults; $3 seniors and students with ID; free for MOCA members. Seating is limited, and RSVP is a must. A reception will be held between the screenings with wines provided by Rex Goliath.
