The Bass Ball and its after-party Keep The Ball Rolling were an elegant celebration in support of the exhibitions and programs of the Bass Museum of Art. Presenting sponsor of The Bass Ball this year was TOD’s, and Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate and Coastal Construction provided additional support. Chaired by Criselda Breene, Diane Lieberman, Soledad Picen, Tui Pranich and Ines Rivero, The Bass Ball attracted 350 of Miami’s most distinguished cultural and civic leaders.
With the galleries of the museum being closed for year-long renovation, an imaginative setting was created in Collins Park just for this event. Attire was “Whimsical Black Tie” with prizes awarded for the Most Creative, Most Outlandish, Best Couple and Most Elegant. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on original works of contemporary art throughout the evening. The highlight of The Bass Ball was the world premiere of a new work by Athi-Patra Ruga, the South African performance artist who has captivated the imagination of the art world. Ball patrons enjoyed cocktails, a seated dinner, the special performance and first dibs on the silent auction, followed by The Ball dance after-party with tunes provided by DJ Mauricio Parra.
