Cupid’s Undie Run, the world’s largest underwear run, will make its debut in Miami on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Set to kick off Valentine’s Day Weekend, the inaugural event will be held in Wynwood at The Mana Wynwood Tent. Doors open, and the party starts at 12:00 p.m.
Miami is one of 36 cities to host Cupid’s Undie Run. This month, more than 25,000 scantly clad runners across the United States and three cities in Australia will help raise awareness of neurofibromatosis (NF) and donations to the Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) through Cupid’s Undie Run. Sponsored by Sock it to Me and recognized as the world’s largest organized underwear run, the event gives participants the opportunity to strip off the usual workday wear and show their support for research of NF in just their undies.
The idea for Cupid’s Undie Run was born in February 2010 with the desire to help a friend in need. In 2009, Chad’s little brother, Drew, became paraplegic during his battle with NF, spent 183 days in the hospital and was bedridden for the remainder of the year. Determined to help Drew, friends Brendan Hanrahan and Bobby Gill rallied alongside Chad to create an event that would support NF research while taking a non-traditional yet fun approach towards fundraising. After just 30 days of planning, the first Cupid’s Undie Run was held in Washington, DC with more than 650 runners and six-feet of snow.
To date, Cupid’s Undie Run has donated nearly $8 million to CTF to fund research that will one day #EndNF. A nationally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, Cupid’s Undie Run is operated by hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout the country. #ImWithCupid #WillRunForBeer #CupidUndieRun @CupidsUndieRun @ChildrensTumor
