Sixteen women from across Broward County have come together under the direction of Bryan C. Wilson to present three benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues.” The award-winning episodic play, based on playwright and V-Day Founder Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200, celebrates women’s sexuality and strength with humor and grace. Each of the monologues deals with an aspect of the feminine experience. All of the proceeds will benefit Covenant House Florida in Fort Lauderdale and The Pride Center’s Women With Pride in Wilton Manors.
This is a show you’ll long remember, so please come for a great time and to support Covenant House Florida, The Pride Center’s Women With Pride, V-Day and women in general. The performances will be 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Beach Community Center. The start times accommodate a 30-minute pre-show, during which there will be music, a short video, raffle tickets for sale and the show introduction. Beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. Cash only.
Every year, college and community groups all over the world produce benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues” through V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls. The idea is to support the female-empowering global movement and to raise money for like-minded organizations in the communities where the show is being produced.
