Festival Flea Market Mall hosts the Festival Foodie Feud cooking competition with free admission for spectators and shoppers. For this special event, Festival has teamed up with MasterChef Season 6 runner-up Derrick Peltz to test the culinary skills of four lucky contestants, and award the top challenger of home cooks in South Florida.
The contest will include three rounds of cooking â€“ appetizer, main course and dessert â€“ using a selection of mystery ingredients that can be found throughout the Festival Flea Market Mall. One contestant will be eliminated after each round.Â The grand prize includes two tickets to the Goya Foods Grand Tasting Village featuring MasterCard Grand Tasting Tents & KitchenAid(R) Culinary Demonstrations at the South Beach Wine & Food FestivalÂ on Feb. 28 and $500 in cash. Festival Flea Market Mall will award gift certificates to the other contestants: $250 to the runner up, $100 to the third place contestant and $50 to the contestant who takes fourth place. Each contestant will also receive a branded apron and cutting board to commemorate the challenge.
The audience will have the opportunity to meet and take photos with Peltz before, during and after the competition. There will also be an audience giveaway of a pair of tickets to the Goya Foods Grand Tasting Village at the SOBEWFF(R) on Feb. 28.Â Host, mentor and judge, Chef Derrick Peltz, along with additional judges â€“ WSVN anchor Belkys Nerey and Sun Sentinel columnist Doreen Christensen.
