Communities in Schools of Miami (CIS of Miami) hosted its 27th annual gala, presented by Publix Super Markets, at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel in support of its educational programs and services that help over 20,000 South Florida students each year succeed in and out of school. This year will also mark a special moment for the organization as President/CEO, Elizabeth Mejia, will be the honoree as the organization celebrates her 20 years of service with Communities In Schools of Miami.
The theme of the 2016 gala is “Reach for the Moon,” which commemorates the organization’s dedication to empowering students to stay in school through mentoring, tutoring, development skills, community resources and more. The evening started with a cocktail hour where supporters bid on luxury, silent auction items, and a lucky bidder will also have the chance to take home a guitar signed by Taylor Swift. A three-course dinner followed the auction accompanied by live music and entertainment by CIS of Miami students.
