2011 Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk

Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K RunSaturday, September 10, 7:30am – Huizenga Park, Las Olas Boulevard & Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale

Held annually in New York City to honor the 343 firefighters and first responders who lost their lives on 9/11, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run is coming to Fort Lauderdale. Sponsored by Patriot National Insurance Group the event will commemorate the 10th anniversary of this fateful day. The Tunner to Towers Run recreates the final footsteps of off-duty firefighter Stephen Siller who was last seen running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel with 75 pounds of gear strapped to his back en route to the World Trade Center after the attacks. More than 30 communities have signed up to hold a Tunnel to Towers Run with the goal of one run in 343 different cities across the nation. Cost to run is $25 to benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Special Operations Wounded Warriors Foundation. It’s your chance to come together and remember the sacrifices of that day, as well as the sacrifice and courage being shown every day by our service men and women.
