Axel Stein, Head of the Latin American Art Department at Sotheby’s, Andrea Fiuczynski, EVP/Chairman, Sotheby’s Americas, and Patricia Lobaccaro, President and CEO of BrazilFoundation, together with Rene Silva, Founder of Jornal Voz das Comunidades, Brazil as special gust, hosted intimate reception and private viewing of highlights from the upcoming sale Latin America: Modern Art.

Sotheby’s introduced upcoming May 2016 selection of works of Latin America: Modern Art, the only auction solely dedicated to Modernism in Latin America. This category essentially focuses on figurative artworks from the region by leading artists engaged in traditional landscape painting, portraiture, Cubism, Mexican Muralism, Surrealism, Social Realism and Hyper Realism among others; the sale mostly include works executed in long established media from the late 19th through the 20thCentury.

The preview included works by the most recognized artists in the field such as Rufino Tamayo, Fernando Botero, Wifredo Lam, Matta, Angeline Beloff, Claudio Bravo, and including master works by Brazilian modern masters such as Candido Portinari, Emiliano Di Cavalcanti and Cicero Dias.
