Two aviation icons in Coconut Groveâ€™s colorful history are the focus of a tour and reception on Sunday, September 25 to mark the debut of a network television show on ABC. Coconut Groveâ€™s Business Improvement District (BID) is presenting a VIP Premiere Party and tour of the original terminal for Pan American World Airwaysâ€™ pioneering flying boat service between North America, the Caribbean and South America.
Pan Am made headlines worldwide with its innovative service in the 1930s and â€˜40s, boarding passengers at the famous Dinner Key terminal that now serves as Miami City Hall.
Events will begin with a tour of the former seaplane base led by HistoryMiami historian Dr. Paul George. A trolley to City Hall departs from Peacock Garden CafÃ© at 7 p.m. A reception at the cafÃ© follows at 8 p.m. Guests will gather for the television premiere of the new show Pan Am at 10 p.m.Â Tickets are $25 and seating is limited.Â Public parking available in the garage next to the Sonesta Hotel.
