The Piero Atchugarry Gallery and Fundación Pablo Atchugarry are welcoming you back with three simultaneous exhibitions, all opening on Friday, September 10th!
In our main gallery, they will present Witness, a group exhibition of 2-d and 3-d works as well as video work by contemporary African and African Diaspora artists Ângela Ferreira, Lungiswa Gqunta, Daàpò Réo, Tariku Shiferaw, and Chris Soal. Navigating the saturation of globalization from a postcolonial perspective, the exhibition spans four generations, multiple disciplines, and a profound understanding of the internationalism of contemporary African art.
In survey space, they will present Rhizome, an inaugural solo exhibition by contemporary Japanese artist, Keita Miyazaki, featuring an entirely new body of work. Miyazaki presents his vision of contemporary society through his sculptures, striking the balance between organic and inorganic, playful and sober, utopian and dystopian.
The Fundación Pablo Atchugarry will welcome English artist Simon Faithfull and curator/environmental activist Ombretta Agro’ Andruff to exhibit Fata Morgana, featuring photographic and video work addressing the fallout of climate change. The exhibition embarks on an aquatic journey from the wetlands of Big Cypress to the Nordic Sea and the Adriatic through a series of photographs and films. Witness, Rhizome, and Fata Morgana will debut simultaneously with an evening opening reception on Friday, September 10th from 6 to 9pm.
