Uvaggio Wine Bar & Restaurant is pleased to announce its latest Somm Slam Competition and Wine Dinner taking place on Thursday, October 27 at 7:30 pm at the Women’s Club of Coral Gables. Uvaggio’s Head “Wine-O,” Heath Porter will go pour-to-pour against award winning sommelier Patrick Cappiello, operating partner and Wine Director of New York restaurants Rebelle and Peal and Ash. Guests of the Somm Slam will enjoy a five course wine-paired dinner, with the three middle courses comprising the competition. Each competing sommelier will select a wine for each of the three courses and guests will be tasked with choosing which sommelier best paired his selection with the dish. It’s a “cut throat” best two out of three competition and not only will the winning “slammer” have bragging rights but will also win the coveted Somm Slam trophy.

After being greeted with a bubbles reception and a selection of fine cheeses, charcuterie and hors d’oeuvres, guests will take their seats and the slam will commence. Uvaggio’s Chef Tanner Gill and our very special guest chef from New York City, Chef Grayson Schmitz, will prepare the dinner. After each course, participants will vote on whether he or she preferred Porter’s or Cappiello’s pairing. Following the final pairing, votes will be tallied and the crowning ceremony will commence along with the final course of dessert.

This is a unique and completely fun-filled food and wine dinner like no other. Uvaggio has hosted past Somm Slams at the restaurant and at last year’s South Beach Wine And Food Festival and have completely sold out each event. So they have moved the event to the Women’s Club of Coral Gables to accommodate more guests. This is a “can’t miss” food and wine event so get tickets before they sell out.

Cost is $125 per person (includes tax and gratuity). Dinner includes the bubbles reception, three main courses with a total of six wines and dessert. @uvaggiowine
