Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach was the scene of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s 6th Annual “Claws for Kids†fundraising brunch. Joe’s was open for brunch only for supporters of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s “Claws for Kids.†Not only guests enjoyed delicious stone crabs and other signature Joe’s cuisine without the wait, but proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s many positive programs, including after school programs, homework assistance, computer training, social skills, dance, arts & crafts, professional mentoring, and summer and athletic programs, for area children who need them the most.
This year Jimmy Morales, City Manager of the City of Miami Beach, was honored with Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s ‘From the Heart Award,’ which honors a person, family or organization that has shown “overwhelming†support and constant dedication to the children of the community, including members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.
Frank Sinatra impersonator Jeff Grainger of Sinatra Sounds Entertainment provided entertainment. Menu items included stone crabs, coleslaw, hash brown potatoes, creamed spinach and Key Lime pie. Judy Kramer, a retired Miami-Dade County Public Schools executive, was the chair of the event for the fourth time. The “Claws for Kids†committee includes Special Events Chair Olga Guilarte; Connie Rebozo; Lisa Kramer; Mark Walker, M.D.; Rae Stein, Willie Ho, Kerrin Bermont, Vanessa Bertran, and Pam Guilarte.
