One Sotheby’s International Realty launched its first installment called “YoungArts at ONE” of the new rotating art program series, “ONE is Where the Art is.” One SIR envisions the program as a platform that will cultivate Miami community that is supportive of local artists and looking to integrate art into their everyday lives, according to a One Sotheby press release.
Daniel de la Vega, president of One SIR, and Stacey Glassman Mizener, YoungArts vice president of development, hosted an art talk and Q&A to present the exhibit and explain how the partnership came to be. De la Vega said Miami does not provide the same opportunities for young artists that he has seen in other cities while traveling for work. “ONE is Where the Art is” is his way of providing those opportunities. “I wanted to find a way to exhibit the young artists so that people could see them, see their work, and see what they’re about,” he said during the talk. “It’s a great opportunity for the artists and its also a great opportunity for the consumer.”
The first exhibit features the work of six 2017 YoungArts winners in design and visual arts with pieces that reflect the personal exploration of time, space and architecture. Two of the artists, Luna Elortegui and Nicole Stebbins, were in attendance to discuss their pieces.
Stebbins said objects she sees around her inspired the series of pieces shown at the exhibit. “I first find an object and then what I do with that is create a collage of images that are unrecognizable,” she said.
Elortegui explained how the relationship between time and space is reflected in her pieces as well. “My work revolves around how I view ratios between time and space,” said Elortegui. “It’s my concept of how each moment passes in an hour and a minute, and how I document it based on my experiences happening in that moment.”
The program will rotate the pieces being showcased every quarter, which will be open for public viewing Monday through Friday at the One SIR Miami Beach office. One SIR will host an art talk and Q&A at the beginning of each quarter to launch each installation and discuss art trends in the luxury real estate market.
