Step fashionably into Spring this March at the “Sandals and Sangria” fashion fundraiser in Coral Gables, and support Jackson Health Foundation’s IKF Wonderfund. The afternoon event is sponsored by Laiik, a new Greek-American footwear brand and will feature their responsibly-made, luxury sandal designs. 15% of all proceeds from this event will benefit the IKF Wonderfund.
Laiik is reinventing the classic Greek sandal for conscientious women who want responsibly made, luxury footwear at an accessible price. Raw yet refined, Laiik’s handcrafted sandals combine Greece’s renowned shoemaking heritage with a clean, modern aesthetic that defies trends and seasons. Each pair of sandals is handmade with integrity in a small, familyrun factory in Athens, Greece, which employs 30 craftspeople from the surrounding community. Laiik only uses vegetable-tanned vachetta leathers processed with natural tannins extracted from trees and plants to minimize its impact on the environment.
IKF Wonderfund is a program of Jackson Health Foundation. Its mission is to raise philanthropic support to be used to offset the medical costs for life-saving and life-changing treatments for children, who cannot be treated within their country of origin and, who without this assistance, would have no other options for treatment. Since its inception in 2001, IKF Wonderfund has raised over $22M for the medical care of over 700 children worldwide. The fund helps to ensure these children receive first class medical treatment from specialists at Holtz Children’s Hospital, of the UM/Jackson Health System Thanks to the generosity of donors, many IKF Wonderfund children are able grow and live vibrant and happy lives.
