Pirate Island at the Miami Children’s Museum is an educational hands-on interactive showcase about the world of pirates. You’ll be intrigued by the legends and lore of pirates, beginning from the moment you arrive and glimpse the large galleon pirate ship with its cannon shooting off at regular intervals. Pirates in Training (PITs) will be able to board the ship, steer the course, swab the decks, climb the rope ladder, raise the pirate flag and, if need be, abandon ship down the slide and even walk the plank! PITs will also learn how to walk and talk like a pirate, dress in pirate garb and pick out a pirate name, with special areas where you can learn to tie knots, exercise lifting with block and tackle, see how magnetic fields affect a compass, play pirate music and lots more. But what Pirate Adventure would be complete without a Treasure Map! You’ll be given a map with the locations of six unique stamping stations marked with an X. Solve the puzzles and get your map stamped at all six locations, then navigate your way to the Secret Coded Treasure Chest. Solve the secret code and redeem a gift in the Museum’s Gloria Martin KidsSmart Gift Shop. Entrance to the exhibit is included in each regular admission to the Museum. Admission is $15 for adults and children, $12 for Florida Residents, free for children under 1 year and MCM members.
