Saturday, December 3, 11am-2pm – Lesters Miami, 2519 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami Wynwood Arts District
XYZ, Bhakti Baxter’s new book, explores the progression of ten years of the artist’s practice through a series of collages and montages. The book is loosely structured around a quirky format similar to that of a Life magazine science book and includes an introductory text by Hugh Stockton, an interview with Geir Heraldseth, and an essay by Gean Moreno. A native of Miami, Baxter has been enormously influential in the South Florida art scene. His first exhibition in 2001 at The Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami came at the age of 21. He was a founder, alongside Daniel Arsham and Hernan Bas, of The House Gallery/Art Space, and continues to exhibit internationally at galleries such as Federica Schiavo and Emmanuel Perrotin.
